Williamsport Rotary’s annual Indoor Mini-Golf Classic returns to Genetti Hotel
The Genetti Hotel will be transformed into a mini-golf course from 1 to 5 p.m., Feb. 15 for the 9th annual Williamsport Rotary Indoor Mini-Golf Classic.
According to the news release, the course is open to all members of the family ages 5 to 95.
“Golf clubs are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own putter,” the news release said. “A basket raffle with items from community businesses will offer an additional opportunity to support the event.”
The course includes 18 uniquely designed and decorated holes covering the entire first floor and ballroom of the Genetti Hotel.
“Special holes include a Plinko game, the Operation game with life-size patient, skee-ball and a walk through a colon,” the news release said. “The 18th hole features a hole in one contest where the winner will receive $500.”
Proceeds from the Classic support a wide variety of organizations. Locally, Rotary supports dictionaries for third graders, a perennial garden in Brandon Park, is a sponsor of the “First Friday for Kids” event, the Cochran all-access playground, Loyalsock High School – Interact Club, a coat drive for the Salvation Army, and the Junior Rotarian Program where outstanding students from local schools were recognized for leadership and service to the community.
Marc Schefsky has been named the Honorary Chairman of this year’s Rotary Mini-Golf Classic.
“While manager of the Genetti, he had the vision to transform the first floor into a mini-golf course fundraiser to support the Williamsport Rotary Club,” the news release said. “Thanks to his hard work and leadership, the event has now grown into a full 18-hole course. An active community volunteer and lifelong golfer, Marc was diagnosed with ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, in 2022. While the disease has slowed him down, it has not interfered with his activism and commitment to serve the community as he encourages others to donate, advocate, and volunteer for the ALS cause. A portion of every admission will be donated to fund ALS research and support.”
Each hole is sponsored by local businesses or individuals. This year’s sponsors include Hooplas, Geisinger, UPMC, Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships Anthony H. Visco Jr. Architects, Intrada Technologies, Woodlands Bank, Crockett Financial Services, Journey Bank, Health Touch Spa, YMCA, Families United Network, Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, First National Bank, and our host Genetti Hotel and Suites.
Rotary is a service organization of more than 1.4 million men and women dedicated to building a better world. A community of 46,000 clubs around the world. Members are business, professional, and community leaders in your locality who meet regularly to plan and implement community service activities and network with other professionals. For those interested, members can also choose to become involved in international humanitarian service efforts, the news release said.
