City of Williamsport postpones any plans for Scott Street park
The City of Williamsport is taking $45,000 out of its 2025 Community Development Block grant funds for the proposed “pocket park” on Scott Street and moving it to street reconstruction.
The park is just not ready to move forward at this time, said Austin Daily, housing program manager at the city Department of Community and Economic Development and Planning to City Council, which approved the resolution for an amendment to the CDBG fund.
The city believed it was the best use for the funds at this time and could revisit the park at a later date if need be.
The pocket park was part of the overall concepts as the Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity was preparing siting for the six new houses on the street. A pocket park is a miniature park, with a bench, and perhaps some landscaping, where people in the neighborhood could rest or take in a few minutes of relaxation. The pocket park was included at the time of the housing development as a conceptual design.
