Employees with the city’s Public Works Department used chainsaws, rakes, shovels, even heavy equipment to remove a dead maple tree that toppled early Monday afternoon on Third Avenue, just south of High Street. One employee at the scene said that, in all likelihood, the tree had been dead for quite some time.
