Montgomery school board approves financial matters

The Montgomery Area School District approved several financial items at their monthly meeting Tuesday night.

In staffing, the board gave its approval to a resolution authorizing a new series of bonds to finance improvements to district facilities.

The resolution states that the amount is not to exceed $9,250,000; a proposal from Dixon A.C. & R. Corporation to clean eight outdoor units coils, in the amount of $1,799; a quote from Fisher & Son Company Inc. for infield conditioner for fields, in the amount of $669; a service agreement with Blast IU17 (RWAN) E-Rate Consortiums, effective July 1 to June 30, 2029; a bid from Christian’s Fitness Factory for used gym equipment, in the amount of $1,970; a service proposal from Illuminated Integration for stage rigging inspection, in the amount of $2,280; and change orders to infill existing concrete slab, in the amount of $1,988.08; to increase water line size, in the amount of $2,995.14; to electrical changes in the amount of $2,240; to fire alarm system equipment in the amount of $14,662; a quote from BSN Sports for football uniforms for the 2026-27 school year in the amount of $18,300; and a change order deduction from Lobar Inc. for the junior/senior high school project, in the amount of $279,895.20.

Other items given approval by the board include a master services agreement wth Presence Learning, Inc. for teletherapy programs; a renewal agreement with The Nutrition Group for the 2026-27 school year; a Board Affirmation Statement for the Flexible Instructional Day Program; the updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Pennsylvania State Police; and resolution 2026-1, extending the term of exemptions, deductions, abatements and credits for property tax, earned income tax, net profits tax, mercantile tax and business privilege tax within the Keystone Opportunity Extension Zone (KOEZ), contingent on a PILOT being agreed to by the county.

In staffing, the board approved Christopher Glenn as a bus driver; Matthew Staggert as a volunteer assistant girls’ junior high soccer coach; and accepted a retirement letter from Virginia Hill, high school administrative assistant, effective June 30.

The next school board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19.
