Williamsport City Council OKs work on fire station ceiling

Williamsport City Council recently approved a resolution authorizing an agreement between the Williamsport Bureau of Fire and The Ceiling Guys as presented by Fire Chief Tracey Harer.

This is a project for a new ceiling at the Walnut Street fire headquarters, he said. It has been a project of upgrading the station that the city Department of Community and Economic Development and Planning has had a vital role in assisting in getting needed funding, Harer noted.

This will be for a new ceiling in the engine bay area, he said.

“It’s been in an order of disarray for probably 15 to 20 years,” Harer said.

The cost with the company from Aquashicola is not to exceed $22,487. The materials are $9,383, while the labor is $13,104.

To pay for the ceiling, money will be taken from out of the Pennsylvania Municipal Fire Department Capital Grant Program.

Harer thanked Valerie Fessler, community and economic development and planning director, and her team for being successful in helping to apply for and receive the grant on behalf of the city fire department.

Harer also presented a resolution for consideration authorizing an agreement between the Williamsport Bureau of Fire and ESO. This is a software system the council previously approved. The department also has a third-party company called PA Fire Recovery that does rescue billing. That company goes into the fire department’s reports, pulls out information necessary and bills accordingly and to what they are permitted in Pennsylvania, he noted. In order to have access for the company as a third party the department must pay $848 to ESO for accessibility to the information.

Starting at $2.99/week.
