Downtown Williamsport’s First Fridays are back
The annual Williamsport First Friday season begins today from 5 to 9 p.m., with a special tribute to the late City Councilwoman and long-time resident Bonnie Katz.
The event downtown features more than 100 unique local artisans including artists, performers, and food trucks, and it’s taking place with a UPMC Comm(UNITY) Block Party, from William to Hepburn streets, according to Lycoming Arts officials.
Since its debut in 2000, Lycoming Arts’ Williamsport First Friday has become a beloved downtown tradition, uniting artists, businesses, and neighbors through the power of the arts. After longtime organizer Beth Armanda stepped down last year, new co-chairs Meredith Yowell and Cory Baney have stepped up to carry forward the legacy she helped build and lead the next chapter.
“First Friday has always been about showcasing the creativity and spirit of Williamsport,” said Meredith Yowell and Cory Baney, the event co-chairs.
“We’re excited to kick off the 2026 season with UPMC’s Comm(UNITY) Block Party and again welcome our neighbors downtown.”
The block party will feature a variety of UPMC service lines sharing health information and support, alongside partners including the First Community Foundation Partnership, the Community Arts Center, which is going to offer tours, and the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Families will also find youth-focused activities throughout Mural Canyon where kids can learn, play, and connect with neighbors.
