Elderly man’s body pulled from pond in Muncy
MUNCY — The Lycoming County Coroner’s Office and state police are investigating the death of an elderly man whose body was pulled from a pond along Musser Lane, just outside the borough, late Thursday afternoon.
Muncy Area volunteer firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene, less than a quarter mile from the Church of the Resurrection, about 4:40 p.m. when a passerby spotted the body floating in the 50-foot diameter pond, according to emergency responders. Clinton Township firefighters also responded and used a long hook to pull him from the water.
His body was then taken to the county’s forensic center. County Coroner Charles Kiessling Jr. said the man’s identity will be released once all family members are notified.
It is possible the victim may have suffered a medical episode and collapsed in the pond, Kiessling said as the investigation remained ongoing.
