The identity of a man pulled from a pond along Musser Lane in Muncy Creek Township Thursday evening has been released.

James L. Frey, 77, of Musser Lane, Muncy Creek Township, was discovered face down in a pond just before 5 p.m. Thursday evening, stated a release by Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling Jr.

“It appears that he was running a weed eater around the pond when he collapsed into the water,” the release said.

Frey was pulled from the pond by county water rescue personnel, after which Susquehanna Regional EMS requested the Coroner’s Office respond to the scene.

Emergency crews from Muncy, Hughesville, Picture Rocks, South Williamsport and Clinton Township Fire and Water Rescue personnel also responded to the scene.
