City of Williamsport to sell firetruck to Trout Run
A resolution was approved by Williamsport City Council authorizing the sale of fire apparatus to Trout Run Volunteer Fire Co.
Williamsport Bureau of Fire Chief Tracey Harer, prior to the approval vote, said about two years ago the WBF got a new fleet of apparatus.
“We had tried to sell this piece of apparatus through a third-party company with no success,” he said.
Trout Run received heavy flood damage at its station in August 2024 from Tropical Storm Debby, and recently its fire engine broke.
“We actually loaned this truck to them to keep them in operation,” Harer said.
Since then, Trout Run firefighters have begun to enjoy the truck and wanted to buy it.
After speaking with the city solicitor, the city ended up with a sealed bid and Trout Run ended up as a high-bidder at $10,001.
“It’s great to see some of our equipment to go to a local community facing a tragedy and hopefully they will get some great use out of it,” said Councilman Vince Pulizzi.
