"Race Against Racism has been in existence for probably over 15 years. It stopped back in 2019 and then we picked it back up in 2023," Shantay Hall, prevention educator for the Williamsport YWCA and a medical advocate. "We like to do it in June for multiple reasons, Juneteenth, gay pride, and just the fact that most times, those are the holidays and the things that people forget to remember," she said. "I feel like the race builds momentum to get it through the whole month, so we put it smack dab in the middle of the month, trying to segue into the end of Juneteenth weekend," Hall said. "It has a really good impact on the community, because everyone is welcome," she added. JESSICA WATSON/Sun-Gazette Correspondent
