Muncy Township supervisor pays fines
Muncy Township supervisor Terri Lauchle has paid a $7,000 contempt of court fine.
“She did,” said Lycoming County Prothonotary Holly Thomas, who confirmed she personally received the payment from Lauchle.
The land developer FAMVEST of State College can now move ahead with more plans for the Bass Pro Shops. Those plans will also require approval from the supervisors.
On June 4, Lycoming County President Judge Eric R. Linhardt found Lauchle had continued to refuse to sign the land consolidation plan for the Bass Pro despite a $500 per day accruing fine, which had reached $7,000 the day of the hearing.
Supervisor Denise Artley, vice chair, signed the plan saying that she could not afford to pay the fine.
Lauchle went to Lycoming County Prison on contempt and was ordered to be incarcerated for six months.
Lauchle was not eligible for work release or work crew, nor eligible for electronic monitoring release. However, the order stated how Lauchle “may purge” this period of incarceration by signing the previously approved lot consolidation plan. The fine was to be paid within 30 days of her release from incarceration. She was released the following day, court papers said.
Lauchle had to pay this fine, personally, and was not permitted to use any taxpayer monies for payment or satisfaction of the debt, according to the judge’s order.
Supervisors are holding a regular monthly meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the township building in Pennsdale.
