Muncy schools to receive $138,000 boost in state funding for general education

The Muncy School District will receive a $138,000 increase in state funding over last year's allocation, it was announced at the July meeting.

Business Administrator Andrew Seese reported to school directors that the money, approved as part of the recently passed state budget, will include additional funds for general education, basic education, and the Ready to Learn Grant.

The funding will help fill the more than half-million-dollar deficit of the district's 2026-2027 spending plan approved in June, which did not include a tax-millage increase.

School directors approved the recommendation of the superintendent's evaluation committee for a satisfactory rating for the superintendent during the 2025-2026 school year.

Also approved were the following purchases and contracts:

• Classroom furniture, STS Innovative Interiors through the COSTARS purchasing agreement, $21,508.

• Maintenance equipment, C.H. Waltz Sons, Inc., Cogan Station, $16,193.

• Snow blade, Best Line Leasing, Inc., Pennsdale, $4,745.

• Security Voice, Inc., $2,384.

• PlanbookEDU, $1,680.

• Critical Response Group, $1,070.

• Sarah Travelpiece, American Sign Language and Pidgin English Interpreter, $45 per hour.

• Heidi Roupp, substitute American Sign Language and Pidgin English Interpreter, $40 per hour.

• Cori Gresh-Horikoshi, substitute American Sign Language and Pidgin English Interpreter, $45 per hour.

The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at the high school.
