A parking lot expansion on property at the rear of 528 Washington Blvd. received land development approval by the City Council.
The "Tilley Trust" issue was originally one that went to a variance request before the city Zoning Hearing Board, which denied that request and the denial was reversed in court, said Phil Prout, building codes officer, Barry Isett & Associates. It was a process that began in a previous administration.
The plan finally made its way – "seems like many years of frustrating processes led to conditional approval before the city planning commission June 1," said Prout.
The city planning commission gave the plan favorable recommendation, provided the Bradford pear trees were not used for landscaping.
Prout attached a preliminary final development plan by Randy Webster of RK Webster Engineering LLC.
"Why was the original plan not approved?" Councilwoman Liz Miele asked Prout.
He answered by saying the property is split between two zoning districts, a commercial and a residential district.
The parking lot was not permitted by right, he said.
A deed states the parking lot can't be sold separately and has to stay with the business, he said.
