The City of Williamsport provided an update on the West Fourth Street resurfacing.
On Wednesday, the city's contractor M&J Excavation of Bloomsburg will be milling Fourth Street starting at Mulberry Street and moving west to Hepburn Street.
The milling will be conducted one block at a time and while the milling is taking place, each entire block of Fourth Street being milled will be closed to traffic, said Scott Williams, city planner and deputy director at the city Department of Community and Economic Development.
Milling is anticipated to commence Wednesday morning and be completed Friday, July 17.
During milling, the contractor will be able to accommodate some access to businesses for deliveries.
After milling of Fourth Street is completed, paving crews will tentatively arrive in Williamsport by July 31 to resurface the milled sections.
The paving will also be conducted one block at a time with the entire block being paved closed to traffic while the paving is completed. During this part of the project, access will be completely limited to preserve the fresh pavement.
Paving is highly weather dependent, so when there is a final date for commencement of paving, Williams said he would follow up with the latest information. Paving of Fourth Street is anticipated to be completed in less than four days if conditions cooperate.
"All paving will be completed prior to the Little League World Series so that we have a wonderful refreshed street through our central business district for the parade and Williamsport Welcomes the World festival."
