The Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority at its recent monthly meeting approved a mediation agreement between the airport and contractors involved with construction of the terminal building.
The mediation process, to include Lobar, Inc. and Murray Associates Architects, is to take place before Aug. 31, according to airport officials.
The terminal building was completed in 2017 but later experienced roof leakage issues and water damage.
"After the terminal was built, we had a driving rainstorm and water penetrated it," Scott Williams, airport solicitor, said. "There are issues about who is responsible."
Building repair costs amounted to nearly $200,000.
Lobar served as general contractor for the project and Murray Associates as design architect.
"The mediation is to try and recover costs," Williams explained. "We hope to resolve this amicably with the assistance of this mediator."
Williams said Ted Adler, a Harrisburg-area attorney, will serve as mediator.
"He is looking for an agreement," Willams said. "It's not an arbitration."
In other matters, the Authority approved a land lease extension agreement with C&I Boiler Repair, Inc for 10 years at an annual rate of $1,200. The business is located at 326 Winters Lane.
An agreement was approved with GFT Infrastructure, Inc. for rehabilitation of the maintenance hangar building.
Airport Executive Director Eric McKitish reported the airport completed all 30 of its scheduled commercial airline departures and arrivals during June.
The Authority met in an executive session following the meeting to consider lease issues.
The next Authority meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at the airport.
