It's one of the most unique promotions of the year.
Sometime during the second half of the season, the Williamsport Crosscutters host their famous "Make Your Cutters Debut" promotion. In this unique opportunity, fans can sign up for the chance to sign a special one day pro contract with Billtown's ballclub. Escapades include obtaining your own locker and jersey in the clubhouse, potentially participating in batting practice, and suiting up as a Cutter in the dugout throughout a game.
And in 2026, Williamsport native Trevor Hall was the latest local to achieve that dream for a day.
Hall, a 43 year old Williamsport native who graduated from Williamsport High School in 2001, has long been acclimated with Bowman Field before suiting up as a Crosscutter.
"I was probably seven or eight years old when I came here with my dad back in the Williamsport Bills days," reminisced Hall prior to Wednesday night's contest against the West Virginia Black Bears. "But the experience of actually being out there, it is pretty mind blowing to take it all in. It is a pretty impressive field, and it has a lot of history."
A commoner on the grounds throughout the years, Hall was an attendee at a Cutters game earlier this year when he got the idea to sign up to be a Cutter for a day.
"My daughter saw it up at the scoreboard (when we went to a game,)" chuckled Hall. "So I went online and signed up for the lottery, and I got the call last Monday from Gabe (Sinicropi.) It was awesome... At first I thought it was a joke, but I found out pretty quickly that it was real."
"It's a great opportunity," Hall exclaimed. "I love it. It is a dream come true.
As part of the experience with winning the competition, Hall was signed earlier in the day and, after receiving his contract to play, was immediately out on the field shagging fly balls and taking grounders in the infield.
"To tell you the truth, the grass feels pretty spongy," Hall joked when asked what it felt like to step on the field for the first time. "I wasn't really expecting that. It is a nice feeling."
With the experience, Hall will join a group of Cutters that have already clinched a spot in the MLB Draft League Championship after winning the first half title in early July. Amidst a potential second title chase for the Cutters in three years, Hall will join a high octane environment with the Cutters taking on a tough West Virginia Black Bear team.
"I'm excited to feel the energy of the guys," said Hall. "And to get to be out of the field, ya know? Many Hall of Famers have been on that field. Also to throw a ceremonial first pitch, it's pretty nice just to be a part of it."
Williamsport are back at home to conclude their series with West Virginia on Thursday before a six game road stand across seven days beginning with a weekend slate against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
