Late Sunday afternoon the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for northcentral Lycoming County.
There were reporters of numerous incidents of flooding in the city, South Williamsport, Loyalsock Township, Eldred Township and Old Lycoming Township.
The county's 911 center was inundated with several flood-related calls beginning about 4 p.m.
A deluge of rain began pouring about 1 p.m. and continued well after 5 p.m.
A call went out for all available manpower to report to the Old Lycoming Township firehouse on Dewey Avenue to handle flooding incidents in their jurisdiction.
At 5:10 p.m., emergency responders rushed to the 1500 block of Northway Road Extension in Loyalsock Township to investigate for a report of a woman who was trapped in vehicle that was stalled in floodwaters. A fire boat from South Williamsport was dispatched to help reach the victim. It was reported that the person was extricated from her vehicle about 5:30 p.m.
Firefighters were also dispatched to the 2900 block of Lycoming Creek Road in Loyalsock to investigate a report of water coming in all directions.
There were also reports of flooding in the 800 block of Wildwood Boulevard in the city.
City firefighters also were dispatched to the 200 block of Roderick Road about 5 p.m. for a report of flooding causing water to enter a home.
In South Williamsport, flooding briefly took place at the intersection of Maynard Street and Riverside Drive.
There were reports of flooding occurring on Zuni Lane in Old Lycoming.
Flooding was also taking place in the 1500 block Elmira Street in the city and the 2100 block of Northway Road in Loyalsock Township.
In Eldred Township, it was reported that flooding surrounded much of 7000 block of Pleasant Valley Road, and there was a reported mudslide in the 6000 block of the same road.
There was a report of floodwaters and logs covering the intersection of Route 973 East and Wallis Run Road in Eldred Township, and there was a report that part of the 6900 block of Pleasant Valley Road in the same township was beginning to wash away.
The state Department of Transportation also had several crews out as well to help with the flooding situation.
