Effective immediately, the Lycoming County Sheriff's Office will now offer an online option for those that wish to apply for a License to Carry (LTC) according to a news release from Sheriff Eric Spiegel.
The Sheriff's Department is partnering with Permitium to offer this service. However, paper applications will still be accepted for those who wish to go to the Sheriff's Office to obtain their LTC.
The application is available at lycomingpa.permitium.com/ccw/start/. Click on the drop down menu for government and click on Sheriff under the listing of elected officials.
Once the online application is completed, applicants will also have the ability to make the payment via credit/debit card. Please note, there will be a non-refundable convenience fee assessed by Permitium LLC for the online service.
Once the completed application is submitted, my office will review it and if completed properly, the application will be submitted to PICS for approval processing, Spiegel said.
Approved applicants will be notified by email, telephone or text message. Once approved, the LTC needs to be picked up within 10 days of notification.
"We are constantly looking at ways to better serve the community. This is another example of our continued efforts, by offering a more streamlined process to applying and making payment for an LTC," the news release stated.
"By partnering with Permitium LLC, this new application process allows applications to be submitted anytime day or night, holidays or weekends. The online process will also allow us the ability to reduce the amount of time an individual would spend inside the courthouse. We are aware that some individuals may not have access to a computer nor are able to apply online. Again, we will continue to offer the conventional, hand written paper application process for anyone who would not choose to use the online process," according to the statement from Spiegel.
