Loyalsock limits use of e-scooters, e-bikes in township

By From Staff Reports 1 min read

Loyalsock Township supervisors recently acted to limit the use of e-bikes and e-scooters in the municipality.

"To improve safety, the Loyalsock Township Board of Supervisors amended Chapter 150-1 of the code which lists acts that are prohibited on public parks and recreation areas owned by the Loyalsock Township Board of Supervisors," a news release from the township says. "Action was taken at the Township meeting on July 14, 2026, to approve Ordinance No. 2026-403 which prohibits the use of e-bikes and e-scooters in all Loyalsock Township parks."

Mobility aids like motorized scooters and electric wheelchairs still are permitted, the news release notes.

"This ordinance was created in response to safety concerns related to the use of e-bikes and e-scooters which were reported from residents that use the parks," the news release said. "These devices are still permitted on recreational trails owned by the Township, as long as they are used in a safe manner."
