Video production and streaming will be open to grades 9 through 12 at the Loyalsock Township School District.
The school board this week approved the course to provide students with the opportunity to develop skills in video production, broadcasting, digital media and communication while serving as a home for the Loyalsock Live Video Broadcast.
The course will support student engagement by allowing students to create meaningful content highlighting school events, activities, athletics, and other important aspects of the school community.
It will be offered this fall.
Dr. Brooke Beiter, superintendent, noted from student feedback it was high interest. This will run school long for the school year, she said.
Under administrative personnel, the board upon recommendation approved Devin Way, Assistant Principal at Donald E. Schick Elementary School. Way's salary will be $86,000 for the school year.
Under administrative support personnel, the same application applied to hiring Jeremy Wilton, Transportation Supervisor, at $65,000 and Michael Schaeffer, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor, at $85,000.
Under middle school administration, the board approved Cheryl Gilbert as a full-time secretary at an hourly rate of $17.90.
Michael Alston was approved as a 190-day Intervention Specialist I was approved as Supervisor of Special Education pending documentation at $17.50 per hour.
Under the School Resource Officer contract, David Podgorney was appointed pending necessary documentation//certification and order of the court.
Deanna Snyder, a Food Service employee has retired as has Terrence Samuel, Intervention Specialist. Their resignations were effective on July 22 and July 31, respectively.
