JERSEY SHORE – Doug Cohick, 73, of Mifflin Township, was killed Friday in a tractor accident on his property in the 3000 block of Canoe Run Road, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.
Cohick was operating a tractor that was pulling a disc cultivator when he apparently lost control of it on wet grass, Kiessling said, adding that the tractor started to slide down a hill.
The cultivator first hit a large rock and then the tractor hit a tree, Kiessling said. Cohick likely died instantly from the impact, he said.
It was believed the accident occurred Friday morning, but it was not discovered until late in the afternoon until a family member, concerned about his welfare, discovered his body next to the tractor.
Kiessling said Cohick died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries to the upper body.
Jersey Shore firefighters and state police were dispatched to the accidental death.
