Montgomery Area School District fills staffing positions

The Montgomery Area School District filled several staffing slots during its monthly meeting Tuesday night.

In financial matters, the board approved change orders in the amount of $794.50 to reroute roof drain area A; and $16,422.22 for a science island base Change.

In staffing, the board approved Sydney Beagle as a part-time special education paraprofessional; Sharon Koser as a high school learning support teacher, at a salary $64,549; Jason Campbell as a high school science teacher, at a salary of $71,749; Melissa Clark as a 7th grade math teacher, at a salary of $78,649; Greg Edinger as Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager; Chris Spangler as varsity head baseball coach, at a salary of $3,600; Hannah Summerson, Andrea Hetner and Katie Nichols as teacher mentors; a number of class advisors, athletic staff and event workers with stipends ranging from $1,550 to $4,928.53; the bus employees for Murray transportation; and acknowledged the resignations of Kurt Jones as a 7th grade math teacher; Daniel Tucker as a chemistry/biology teacher.

Other actions approved by the board include the 2026-27 school outreach agreement with the Lycoming-Clinton Joinder Board to provide school outreach caseworker services; the service agreement and the ACT 48 Program agreement with River Rock Academy; the Memorandum of Understanding Early College Program with Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania; an agreement with Community Services Group (CSG) for mental health psychiatric school-based outpatient services; the 2026-27 elementary student and faculty handbooks; the 2026-27 Junior/Senior High student and faculty handbooks; the 2026-27 curriculum novel list; and the 2026-27 district level goals.

The school year will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 20, with an elementary open house scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26; and an open house at the Junior/Senior High School scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, district Superintendent Dr. Joseph Stoudt told the Sun-Gazette.

The next board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
