One of two city teenagers present when shots were fired at a residence at Penn Vale Apartments on March 3, 2024, was sentenced Tuesday after he served his 336 days in prison.
Appearing before Lycoming County Judge William Carlucci for a 10:30 a.m. hearing, Tykir Jihad Smith was in plain clothes. He had served 336 days in Lycoming County Prison, from Aug. 7, 2025 to July 8.
His attorney, Andrea Pulizzi, speaking from a different location than the courtroom, confirmed for the judge the details of the case. Assistant District Attorney Lindsay Sweeley and a probation officer were present to affirm them, as the judge noted Smith had entered a guilty plea to misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
The sentence besides allowing the time-served to suffice, included a probationary period of three years and 30 days, by Carlucci's count.
In the incident, Sweeley and another teen acknowledged being present when shots were fired at a residence in the 1500 block of Randall Circle in Loyalsock Township.
Prosecutors contend the shooting was in retaliation for the March 2, 2024, shooting death of 15-year-old Ahmeen Palmer in the parking lot of TGI Fridays on East Third Street. That shooter, Ja'hsir Legare, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and carrying a firearm without a license. He awaits sentencing scheduled for next month.
On the night of the non-injury retaliation shooting, Smith, 18 at the time, accompanied five to six others to the Penn Vale Apartments where one of the individuals discharged a firearm into one of the residences, according to court documents.
A teenage boy was alone in the house when the shots were fired into the home about 9:50 p.m., however he was uninjured.
The man who allegedly pulled the trigger, Damier Sams-Glover, faces the same charges as the teens, as well as an added count of corruption of minors, and is awaiting trial, according to court records.
In issuing the sentence, Carlucci noted Smith is to pay the cost of prosecution and follow the rules under the adult probation office.
