The East Lycoming School District superintendent recently briefed the school board and public on the newly formed Core Values Committee.
"I am hopeful we can soon bring to the board a recommendation for a set of
Core Values that represent our district and community," said Dr. Gregory S. Scoggins, superintendent.
He noted the first Core Values Committee meeting was held 4:30 p.m. Sept. 3 in the high school library and there is an upcoming meeting Sept. 24.
The board had a final reading for a board policy on records management. The policy effectively changes the number of years the district retains student transcripts from 20 years to 50 years.
The board voted on a revision to board policy clarifying the policy as authorizing the board president as final approval for board agendas.
The district had several support staff transfers and student activities/field trips.
"I am particularly impressed with our faculty finding ways to enhance the education experience for our students," Scoggins wrote in his report. "I would also like to commend the faculty and staff in finding ways to accomplish this in a cost effective manner."
Bocce Ball
Scoggins thanked the board for what became approval of the
Memorandum of Understanding between ELSD and The Special Olympics.
Approval of this creates an opportunity for students in the district to participate in the sport of bocce ball through the Unified Indoor Bocce Program.
Scoggins thanked Dr. Justin Rodkey, district athletic director, and April Paulhamus with Special and Gifted Education, for their hard work in creating this awesome opportunity.
Scoggins has put out a welcome mat for any stakeholder giving each person interested an invitation to meet with him.
"This gives me a unique opportunity to learn about you, this district, and this community through your eyes," he said.
