The Montoursville Area School Board at its recent meeting approved a proposal from Fish Real Estate for the sale of the Loyalsock Valley Elementary School property.
Under its proposal, Fish would receive up to a 5.5% commission with the sale.
The proposal lists a suggested sales price of between $2.25 million and $2.50 million.
The school located on a 13.6-acre parcel at 3790 Route 87N, Montoursville, is closing at the end of the 2026-2027 school year at which time all elementary students in the district will attend Lyter Elementary School.
The vote to approve the proposal was 8-0. Voting in favor were Sharon Meyer, Todd Badger, David Young, John Houseknecht, Amanda Kling, Tina McCloy, Daniel Albert, and Brad Eisenhower.
Doug Gardner was absent.
In other matters, the board voted to increase the pay for substitute teachers. Regular substitutes will receive $150 per diem, up from $125 per diem. Exclusive substitutes and retired substitutes will earn $160, an increase from $135.
Montoursville Area School District Business Manager Jessica Reich said the increased pay will bring the district comparable to what other local schools offer substitutes.
In personnel matters, the board approved the resignations of Jessica Clayton, 12-month secretary, and Barbara Lutz, paraprofessional.
Kaila Clancy was approved as a part-time paraprofessional at $18.25 per hour.
The following personnel were extended professional employee contracts, including tenure, after completing three years of satisfactory service on temporary contracts:
• Rebekah Lundy, English teacher
• Olivia Overdorf, physical education teacher
• Ben MacInnis, tech ed teacher
• Mailee Hornberger, counselor
The board approved a one-year Employee Assistance Program agreement.
The board will hold a work session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the high school.
