Fish Commercial Group was approved by the Montoursville Area School Board at its recent meeting as the listing agent for the sale of the Loyalsock Valley Elementary School.
The vote by school directors comes after consideration of Fish's proposal to broker the sale of the 13.6-acre parcel at its Sept. 8 meeting.
Under that proposal, Fish receives a 5.5% commission of the sale. It lists a suggested sales price of between $2.25 and $2.50 million.
The school, located at 3790 Route 87N, Montoursville, is closing at the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
In personnel matters, the board approved the resignation of Mallee Hornberger, guidance counselor, effective Oct. 6, and the hiring of Rebecca McDaniel as secretary at $18.50 per hour.
The following personnel were approved to extracurricular positions:
• James Gallagher, junior high softball volunteer coach.
• John Nibert, band volunteer.
• Ryan Baxter, interim head coach, girls tennis, $3,200 stipend.
• Misty Emick, interim assistant coach, girls tennis, $1,500 stipend.
The following were hired as substitute teachers:
• Benjamin Kutay
• Joshua Arnold
• Gracie Osterhout
• Allison Fortunato
• Eva Minotti
The board approved a software maintenance agreement with Infocon Corp., Ebensburg, and on first reading, a policy on use of school facilities.
Various field trips and requests for facilities were approved by the board.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the high school.
