Pleasant Hill Cemetery recently announced a campaign, "Preserve The Chapel, The Chapel's Next Chapter, Every Shingle Tells A Story" with the goal of $30,000.
According to a news release, the chapel was built at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hughesville in1905.
"As a historic landmark, the community will benefit from repairs and upgrades that will allow its use during services," the news release said. "The chapel needs a roof and stained glass window repairs, a ramp, electricity, and a fund for on-going maintenance. Preserving this piece of valuable history is significant to both the cemetery and the community."
Tom Crawley will be hosting tours of the chapel and cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22.
"Come and learn more about the history of the cemetery, facts about local residents buried there, and consider making a contribution to assist in the preservation of the chapel," the news release said. "Whether or not you choose to go on the tours, your donations will preserve and maintain the chapel and cemetery facilities for years to come. Please join our Facebook page at Pleasant Hill Cemetery to hear news, ask any questions about the cemetery and see updates on our fundraising efforts."
