The Loyalsock Township School Board passed a variety of items at its monthly meeting Wednesday.

In staffing, the board approved Donna Moyer as a full-time custodian, at an hourly rate of $17.10, effective Oct. 6; Meshia Chapman as a part-time food service employee, at an hourly rate of $16, effective date to be determined; the termination of Curt Houseknecht as a Head Cook Supervisor, effective Sept. 11; and acknowledged the resignations of Karen Pikunas and Cera McQuillen, both as a food service employees, effective Sept. 23.

In other matters, the board adopted Policy 822 regarding automated external defibrillator (AED)/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); and approved an addendum to the agreement with River Rock Academy for two additional elementary slots for the 2026-27 school year; an agreement with the Frantz Law Group, Dillon, McCandless, King, Coulter & Grahams and the Levin Legal Group for social media litigation.

The move will allow the district to "join in the active suits that have been pursued since 2022, as it relates to claims of damage associated with social media on youth. With the rising cost of youth mental health programs, emotional behavioral services and disciplinary and crisis response teams and our requirements and obligations to support students as a result of their overuse and dependency on social media, this is an opportunity for the district to potentially receive costs of damages to support ongoing mental health programming in the district," Superintendent Brooke Beiter explained. "There is no cost, just the benefit if successful," she added.

The board also cast ballots for the following PSBA officers Matt Vannoy for president-elect, Kristy Bolte for vice president, David Hein for treasurer and Marianne L. Neel and Dr. Michael Faccinetto as PSBA Insurance Trustees.

The next school board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
