The man who once stood accused of providing the gun that took the life of 15-year-old Ahmeen Palmer during a March 2024 shooting at TGI Fridays in Loyalsock Township was sentenced to three months probation after he pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct, hindering apprehension and obstructing the administration of law before Lycoming County Judge Ryan Gardner Monday morning.
In exchange for the plea, a charge of riot – intent to commit a felony was dismissed.
Ibn Hakiem Hunter, 21, of 805 W. Third St., was initially charged with several counts related to the shooting death of Palmer, at the hands of 20-year-old Ja'hsir Kahseem Legare, who was sentenced in August to eight to 20 years in state prison, after he previously pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and illegally carrying a firearm.
Hunter's first slate of charges were never publicly revealed, as all documents were sealed at the behest of Lycoming County District Attorney Tom Marino, though it was heavily implied that they included an accomplice to murder charge during a July 2024 preliminary hearing.
Marino had argued that after receiving a call from Legare's mother, Johniece, Hunter acquired an Uber, and upon arriving at TGI Fridays, gave the murder weapon to Legare.
At the hearing, District Judge Gary Whiteman dismissed the charges, finding that evidence was lacking to require Hunter to stand trial.
In December 2024, several charges were refiled against Hunter, three of which, two counts of simple assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person, were withdrawn by authorities at a preliminary hearing.
In addition to his probationary sentence, Hunter was ordered to perform 40 hours of community service.
