Mummers’ Parade returns to South Williamsport on Saturday

By From Staff Reports 2 min read

The 79th anniversary of the South Williamsport Mummers' Parade will kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday with a "Decades of Music" theme.

The parade route will start at East Central Avenue and Market Street, then follow West Central Avenue down to Clark Street to Southern Avenue and make its way down West Southern Avenue and end at Howard Street.

Get ready for an afternoon filled with floats, bands, costumes, community and school pride, local dignitaries and participants, and plenty of Mummers magic!

Weather conditions are forecast to be near perfect with a high of 51 in Williamsport.

The parade draws thousands of families to line the streets each year and is a precursor to the festivities of the mid-fall season.

Mummers parade is about celebration, fun, and family, with traditional values and music, satire and borderline ridiculous colorful fun.

It's always a good idea to arrive early from out of town for parking considerations and to secure a space or spot on the parade route. Many, though, have families and friends who live along the route and watch the parade from their front porches.

Shout outs ahead of time for the Mummers' Parade President: Marlin Angelo; Vice President: Nancy Pepperman; Parade Coordinator Lisa Angelo; Treasurer Jen Baker; Secretary Brooke Doebler; Parade Marshal Steve Baker and Ad & Social Media Coordinator Skylar Gray.

Starting at /week.
