James D. Beck
James D. Beck, 95, of Linden died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at The Gatehouse Hospice.
Jim’s wife of 66 years, the former Faye S. Pittenger, died in September 2004.
Jim was a fifty plus year member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II, receiving a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and numerous campaign medals.
Jim was a local delivery and over the road truck driver for Good’s City Mills with over 35 years of service. After retiring from Good’s, for the next ten years, he took care of the horses for both Dr. Worbec and Dr. Eckert.
Jim also enjoyed hunting, road trips and carving jewelry out of fruit seeds and carving small baskets out of walnuts.
Born March 14, 1919, in Liberty, he was a son of Gideon A. and Emma Jane (Blair) Beck.
Surviving are sons, Roy A. (Ann), of Linden, Ronald J. (Donna), of Cogan Station, James D. Jr. (Chris), of Rose Valley and Dennis E. (Debbie), of Linden; sisters, Beverly A. (Dave) Lentz, Linda F. Beck and Sandra L. Beck, all of Linden; sister, Evelyn Maneval, of Williamsport; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Jim was predeceased by his parents; wife; a daughter, Donna L. Beck; a brother, Howard (Pete) Beck; and a grandson, Richard A. Beck.
Memorial services are being scheduled and will be announced at a later date.
