Richard Edward Smith

Richard Edward Smith, resident of Turbotville, died peacefully, albeit without warning, on Feb. 7, 2017, at his home.

Rich was the founder and president of the River Valley Providers Association, developed exclusively for senior citizens. Treating senior citizens with respect and care was a top priority and passion for Rich. Before retiring as a reverse mortgage consultant, ALL of his clients received the same fair advice and care. This is an area where his life did not revolve around income, but around people.

Rich is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Heather; son-in-law, William Maclean; granddaughter, Sophie; son, Andrew; daughter-in-law, Gabriel; grandchildren, Hailey, Cameron and Keegan; sister, Marilyn Gaver; and brother-in-law, Wayne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meals on Wheels organization at large.

Rich had requested no formal services to honor him, but we must take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge a man with a huge, kind heart, often plagued by the ways of this world. May he rest in peace.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC., 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.
