E. Helen (Briggs) Boyce

E. Helen (Briggs) Boyce, 88, of Wellsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021 at her residence with family by her side. She married the late Gordon F. Boyce on Sept. 30, 1950, sharing nearly 35 years of marriage together, prior to his passing in 1985. Born May 19, 1932 in Sullivan Township, she was the daughter of the late Mortimer and Lucey (Ashley) Briggs.

Helen took great pride in helping her husband manage and operate their two local businesses, a family motel and a small engine repair shop. She was also an incredible homemaker for her family, enjoying working around the house, gardening, canning and tending to her precious cats. She never missed her daily 3 p.m. coffee break, often sharing conversation and refreshments with family and friends during that time. Helen was well-known for her famous homemade fudge, especially during the holiday seasons while supplies were quickly consumed. She also enjoyed listening to older country music and attending country music concerts. Helen's sweet, thoughtful and caring personality will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons and daughters-in-law, David & Cindy Boyce of Wellsboro and Dale & Doris Boyce of Wellsboro; four grandchildren, Sarah (Marcus) Thompson of Mechanicsburg, Andrew Boyce of Wellsboro, Jason (Andrea) Boyce of Wellsboro and Jenny (Spyke) Krepshaw of Montoursville; brothers, Harold Briggs of Wellsboro and Ben (Hazel) Briggs of Mansfield; a special friend of many years, Claude Wilston of Tioga; several great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and late husband, Helen was preceded in death by her grandson, Jamie Boyce in 1979.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Wilston Funeral Home, 130 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA 16933. Helen's funeral service will immediately follow the visitation hour at 2 p.m., with Pastor Mike Olmstead officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Niles Valley Cemetery, Middlebury Center. www.wilstonfuneralhome.com
