James H. Collier, 88 resident of Easton, N.H., passed away on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at the St. Johnsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation facility after a brief illness.

He was born in Williamsport, on Sept. 23, 1932, to the late Harold and Mary (Stetts) Collier. He was a graduate of Williamsport Senior High School in 1950. After graduating, Jim went to State Teachers College in East Stroudsburg, graduating with a B.S. in teaching. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army and taught Morse code at Fort Devens, Mass., and received an honorable discharge as a sergeant.

Jim met his wife, Barbara, while serving in the Army, and was married on April 6, 1956, and moved to Lunenburg, Mass. Jim taught first grade for one year, and then worked for Fitchburg Music Co. Jim found his calling when he started selling for Advanced Bearing & Supply Co. Jim was a district manager covering sales operations in Manchester, Dover, Berlin, N.H., and Millinocket, Maine.

In 1984 Jim and Barbara moved to Easton, N.H. Jim wanted the quieter life, a smaller home, and the north country living and skiing served that need. Jim and Barbara started Loon Reservation Service, and later bought Franconia Notch Vacations. These businesses offered integrated laundry, cleaning and rental services to Loon and Franconia area home and condo owners.

Jim was asked to assist with the moderator duties. In 1998, Jim ran for the Town of Easton moderator and held the position until 2018. Jim also served on the Easton Planning Board and Conservation Commission for many years, and helped develop two of the Easton Master Plans, which is required every 10 years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Collier; son, Michael and his wife Michelle Collier of Bedford N.H.; daughter, Lisa and her husband Randy Robar of East Barnard, Vt.; daughter, Patricia and her husband David LaRoche of Exeter, N.H.; granddaughters, Heather and Rachel LaRoche.

The family requests memorial contributions in Jim's memory can be made to The Summit in Whitefield, N.H.
