Richard Milo Blomquist

Richard Milo Blomquist, died peacefully March 15 in Richland, WA., surrounded by his daughters, Cheryle Armstrong and Susan Shipman and Susan's husband Ron Shipman.

Richard was born on March 1, 1917 in Gowrie, Iowa to Alfred and Hannah Blomquist. He graduated from Harcourt High School and in 1941 joined the Army Air Corps. Richard was married to the late Shirley Kehler Blomquist who died Sept. 11, 2012. Richard retired from Sun Electric Corp, was active in his church and community and completed writing his book "The Flaming Arrow" at 103 years of age. Having served in WW II as a B-17 Pilot, and listening to other veterans' stories who served in wars since, Dick (Richard) could not tell a story that glorified war, but needed to tell a story that focuses on peace. His book can be purchased on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. The proceeds will go to The Peace Literacy Foundation to continue his passion for peace. Richard's Celebration of Life will be held in July (date TBD) at Bethel Lutheran church in Templeton, Calif.
