Joann (Shaffer) Rishel, 85, wife of Jack Rishel of McElhattan, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.
Born in Booneville, on Nov. 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Agnes (Overdorf) Shaffer.
Joann was a graduate of the former WACC now Penn College, Williamsport, with a degree as an office secretary.
She retired as Executive Secretary to the CEO of Woolrich Inc., Woolrich.
Joann was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Jersey Shore.
While attending the Trinity Lutheran Church, Avis, she served as co-treasurer, assistant pianist and organist and choir member.
Her memberships included The Jersey Shore Business and Professional Women, Avis Community Club and the Jersey Shore Community Choir, The Order of the Eastern Star, where she was Past Worthy Matron and Past District Deputy Matron and a board member of the Clinton County Historical Society and the Salvation Army.
Joann's enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, basket weaving, music and fishing with her husband, Jack.
In addition to her parents Joann was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Latta.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Booneville Lutheran Cemetery, Booneville, with Pastor Kerry Aucker officiating. If desired memorials may be made in Joann's name to the St. John Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., Jersey Shore, PA, 17740.
Service arrangements have been entrusted to the Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 95 East Main St., Loganton, PA.
