Raymond B. Steinmetz

Raymond B. Steinmetz Sr., 89, of Covington, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, June 17, 2022.

Raymond was one of seven children born to Charles and Margaret Lenstrohm Steinmetz in Phillipsburg, NJ.

He married Jeanne Gares on January 1, 1979 at the First Presbyterian Church of Bloomsbury, NJ. by the Rev. Walter L. Siegel.

Raymond was a disabled Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War from 1951 until 1955.

He was employed by Riegel Paper Corp. in NJ. He also served as Chief of Police in Bloomsbury, NJ during the 1970s and 80s. He then went on to be a private investigator.

He was a member of the Arnot Sportsmen’s Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Supreme Sacrifice Post# 8730, Blossburg.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting; his favorite dog was his Boxer named Koontz.

Raymond is survived by his wife Jeanne of Covington; his sons, Carl of Gillet, David of Moscow, Paul of Phillipsburg, NJ, Blair of Florida, and a step-son John of Milford, NJ; daughters Sarah of Allentown, Brenda of Phillipsburg, NJ, Betsy of Bangor, and a step-daughter who predeceased him, Maria an Air Force Captain; brother, Curt of Asbury, NJ He was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, John, Donald, and Floyd, and sister Belline. He is survived by 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In honoring Raymond’s request services will not be held.
