William “Bill” A. Kranz

Mr. William “Bill” A. Kranz, 68, a longtime resident of Williamsport, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at UPMC Williamsport Hospital.

Born March 10, 1952, in Williamsport, he was the son of William R. Kranz and Sarah Catherine Walkinshaw Tempesco.

William was a 1972 graduate of the South Williamsport Area High School as an ROTC scholarship award recipient, and had taken courses at Penn State University and earned an associate’s of applied science-technology degree from Williamsport Area Community College.

He started his 20-plus year teaching career at Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech, inaugurating their 3-year heating and plumbing program, and then teaching and retiring as Associate Professor from the Pennsylvania College of Technology after 20 years of helping to build the Plumbing, HVAC, and Commercial Refrigeration programs. Since 1974, he owned and operated the family plumbing and mechanical business and started his investment property business in the 1970’s as well and continued to invest in real estate in his community.

He also worked at the Eagles Mere Inn during the time his family owned it, and had many fun stories to share about those times.

A quieter man with a quick, dry sense of humor, he was known for his passion for James Bond movies, The Beatles, and Penn State Football. He dearly loved spending time with his family, and his generosity towards his family was even more evident at Christmas, his favorite holiday.

Surviving William “Bill” are his daughter, Michelle L. Carlin (Brian), of Montoursville; son, William A. Kranz (Lindsay Caschera), of Williamsport (their mother Anita Baird); daughter, Kristina Kranz, of Loyalsock (mother Elena Kranz); five grandchildren; brothers, Michael (Mary) Kranz, Joseph (Mimi) Kranz, Jeffrey (Tina) Kranz, Thomas (Rosie) Tempesco, Michael (Torie) Tempesco; and sisters, Mary (James) Taddeo, Sharon (William) Anderson, Cynthia (Scott) Reasons, Kathleen (Ron) Miller; and his mother, Catherine Tempesco; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
