Leona Bernice “Busie” Frederick

Leona Bernice “Busie” Frederick, 91, lifelong resident of Arnot, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023 at Sheila’s Personal Care Home in Mansfield. She was born on Dec. 22, 1931 in Morris Run, Pa., a daughter of Michael and Sophia (Pusc) Maciel. Leona was married to the late Leo Frederick for 52 years. She worked as a laborer for Ward Manufacturing and was a member of the Holy Child Parish. Leona enjoyed cooking Polish foods, gardening, polka dancing, and the Pocono Casino. She assisted with the Arnot Museum and the Arnot Historical Society.

Leona is survived by her daughter, Janie (David) Hilfiger of Covington; a grandson, Anthony (Kayleigh) Hilfiger; a great-granddaughter, Emersyn “My Dolly” Hilfiger; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Victor and Bernice Frederick. She was preceded in death by her husband; her siblings, Vera Williams, Adelyn Kordyl, Mary Lupkoske, Bernice Clinger, Theresa Kordell, Elizabeth Cole, Michael Maciel and Agnes Wojcyk.

Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 138 St. Mary’s St., Blossburg, with Reverend Bryan Wright as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Blossburg.
