Kenneth J. Kohler, 83, of Montoursville passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023 at his home. He was born in Bethlehem on Feb. 8, 1940, to Kenneth R. Kohler and Mary (Yakim) Kohler.
Ken married Suzanne on May 24, 1974, at the First United Methodist Church of Muncy. He graduated from Easton High School in June 1958 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as an aircraft mechanic on multiple assignments. Following his 11 years of service, he worked as a mechanic and co-pilot for Carson Helicopters, installing high tension power lines, logging, and installing ski lift towers, among other missions.
He loved his children and grandchildren very much, and was very proud of them.
Ken was a skilled archer, competing at the state and national level, and the Olympic tryouts in 1972. He was an archery instructor, and a referee and scorer for the 1969 World Championship.
Ken was a member of the Muncy H.S. Adult Booster Club, and in 1987, he researched and wrote a book celebrating Muncy's 50 years of wrestling. He enjoyed doing small engine repair, spending many hours in the garage fixing engines for friends and family.
Ken began working at Grumman Allied in Montgomery in 1974. Following his retirement in 2002 as a Safety and Environmental Specialist, he and Sue moved to Pike County, where he enjoyed feeding the deer, bears, and turkeys.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Maryann Corona. He is survived by his wife, Sue; his son, Lance (Erin); his daughter, Rebecca (Seth) Fry; and seven grandchildren, Maddie and Meghan Kohler, Maele, Wyatt, Mason, Willo and Marah Fry; his sister, Janet (Charles) DeBellis; and brother-in-law, Emery Worthington.
In Ken's memory, memorial contributions can be made to Boy's Town charity (boystown.org; 200 Flanagan Blvd, PO Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010-9988).
A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, March 4, at the First United Methodist Church, 602 South Market St., Muncy, with Rev. Richard Robinson officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the church. A luncheon will follow the service.
