Alexis Michele Weisser, 27, of State College, and formerly of Montoursville, passed away unexpectedly May 25, 2023, leaving behind a legion of family and friends forever blessed by her fun, giving spirit.
Alexis, known to her friends as "Alex," was born Feb. 2, 1996, in Harrisburg. A successful athlete in track and field, soccer, and basketball, Alexis graduated from Montoursville Area High School in 2014.
During high school, she was very involved in YoungLife and Key Club. Alexis went to Penn State University, where she discovered her favorite sport, rugby. As a member of Penn State Women's Rugby, Alexis made lifelong friends and traveled the world. She also served as a discussion group leader for Navigators Ministry and fundraising campaigner for THON.
Alexis excelled in the classroom at Penn State's Smeal College of Business, earning a bachelor's degree in business management (2019) and a master's in business analytics (2021).
Professionally, Alexis worked as a client service team associate for AlphaSights in New York City, before accepting the role of marketing data analyst for the Webstaurant Store, her employer at the time of her passing. The remote-working arrangement with the Webstaurant Store was perfect for Alexis. It allowed her to return to State College and serve as assistant coach/manager for Penn State Women's Rugby, assistant coach of Girls Rugby at State College Area High School, and coordinator/assistant coach for PA Girls Rugby.
Alexis was a loving daughter, sister, and selfless friend. She sparked the fun at any party or family gathering with her shrewd sense of humor, bright smile, and contagious laugh. Nobody made friends easier than Alexis.
She continually amazed and touched those she loved with creative homemade greeting cards. Alexis always kept her stash of craft supplies nearby.
A lover of books, puzzles, and the TV show, "The Office," Alexis also had great appreciation for Broadway musicals, and she cherished dog-sitting her four-legged friend, Cashew.
Alexis is survived by her mother, Maria E. Weisser (Thomas Speicher); her father, Joseph G. Weisser (Sheri Dunahay); her sister, Nicole (Dylan) Casale, of Montoursville; her brother, Austin, of Montoursville; grandmothers Dora Pioli and Janet Weisser; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; countless friends and the Penn State Women's Rugby community, including Madison McCormick and Kate Daley. She was predeceased by grandfathers, Raymond Pioli and William Weisser.
A celebration of Alexis' vibrant life will be held Friday, June 2, at 2 p.m., in Penn's Inn at the Bush Campus Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology, One College Ave., Williamsport.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made "In Memory of Alex" to Penn State Women's Rugby, 147 Bryce Jordan Center, University Park, PA, 16802.
