Marcia Theresa Bischof

Marcia Theresa Bischof, 78, of Williamsport, went home to her Lord on Monday, June 12, 2023, surrounded by her family and with her husband, Joe, by her side.

Born Oct. 19, 1944, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of James J. and Doris E. (Nierle) Kase. Marcia married Joseph A. Bischof on Jan. 5, 1966, and shared 56 years of marriage. She was a 1963 graduate of St. Mary's High School.

Marcia had many roles in her life, a loving wife, daughter, sister, friend, but her favorites were mom and grandma. She was a second mom to many and grandma to all. Marcia lived a life that was nothing short of amazing because of her love for life, God, and her love for people. She was always smiling and laughing, and sure to crack a joke even in the toughest times. She was a listening ear, and always had words of wisdom for anyone that needed it. Everyone that knew her, knew that they could go to her, and she would welcome them with a hot cup of tea, dippy eggs with toast, a sandwich, or chips and dip.

She loved her TV shows, including Lifetime, ID, and Game Show Network.

She loved to dress up in anything sparkly and go out on the town. She always enjoyed being with people, and she really was the life of the party (her words exactly!). When we would have a gathering, her and her sisters would make the best meatballs and macaroni salad. We were not allowed to tailor those recipes, and we wouldn't want to. Marcia was the definition of happiness and laughter, and you knew it the moment you saw her. She truly had the biggest smile, brightest eyes, and most beautiful laugh.

We feel blessed that we got to have these past few days with her. We feel blessed to have been surrounded by family who loved her so much. We feel blessed that she got to go on her and God's terms, not the cancer's. We feel blessed that she got to be at the Gatehouse, who took care of her and us. We feel blessed knowing that she is holding Kirsten in her arms. We feel blessed for all of the prayers and love from everyone who knew her. She was a bright light in a lot of people's lives. We know how much everyone loved her because she was love, and showed it in every way, every day. There is so much we can say about the wonderful woman she was, but to put it simply, in a world where you can be anything you want to be… be like Marcia!

In true Marcia fashion, we ask that anyone joining us for her service and celebration, if you can, wear sparkles for her. She didn't leave the house without her sparkles!

We also ask, that if you feel you would like to make a donation, please make it to the Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA, 17701. They were wonderful!

Marcia is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Bischof; three sons, Kevin (Amy) Bischof, of Brownsburg, Ind., Darrin (Amy) Bischof, of Jersey Shore, and Jason (Rachael) Bischof, of Lock Haven; two daughters, Candice (Ryan) Lachemayer, of Montoursville, and Jolinda (Larry) Chamberlain, of Montoursville; grandchildren, Brandon (Kathryn), Bailey, Nathan, Luke, Caprice, Chloe, Claire, Jared, Colin, Koby, Jordan, Harley, and Brantley. She is also survived by three brothers, Ronald Kase, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Robert Kase, of Cogan Station, Gerald Kase, of Greenwood, Ind.; five sisters, Sister Ann Marie Kase, of Woodbridge, N.J., Cynthia Steinbacher, of Jersey Shore, Christine Kline, of Plainfield, Ind., Mary (Bunny) Steinbacher, of Jersey Shore, Rose Anne Kirby, of Williamsport, and three great-grandchildren, Neyyome, Olive, and Kase.

In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kirsten Lachemayer on Dec. 30, 2005; two brothers, Thomas Kase and James Kase Jr.; two sisters, Francis Butters and Elaine Neidig.
