On Saturday, July 22, 2023, Margaret Searer, loving mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 93.
Margaret was born on Oct. 24, 1929 in Pine Woods Nippenose Valley, to Thomas and Helen Eck (Kimmick), and was raised on the Eck Family Orchard Farm.
She moved to Buffalo in the early 1960s with her husband, Art, and worked at the Old Red Mill for nearly 20 years.
For over 60 years, Margaret and Art traveled via car all over the United States, coast-to-coast, to visit extended family and friends. She loved to tell stories of these adventures late into life.
Margaret loved her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and loved to host them for extended stays when she and Art retired and moved back to the Nippenose Valley, just down the road from her childhood home.
She loved taking extended walks through the woods, visiting garage sales, and cooking large country-style meals for anybody who came to visit.
After 16 years in the Valley, Margaret and Art moved back to the Western New York area to live out the remainder of their lives near their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helen; her siblings, Jeanne (Lehman), Marie (Lehman), Thomas, and Daniel; her husband, Arthur; her daughter, Ann Marie ("Susie"); her stepson, Larry (Diana); and her grandson, Jacob.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Thomas (Darcy), Daniel Lehman (Ann Williams), Steve Lehman (Joan), and Ron Lehman (Liz); nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and scores of nieces and nephews.
