God has called one of his angels back to heaven. Matthew Robert Schultz, 56, of Hollidaysburg, passed away July 4, 2023.
Born Nov. 24, 1966 in Williamsport, he was the son of the late C. Robert "Bob" Schultz and the late Sharon (Miller) Hoffmann.
Matthew graduated in 1985 from Williamsport High School.
Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy, and served for 6 years, including on the USS Forrestal Aircraft Carrier as an Electronics Technician. During his service, he received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal: Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Letter of Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon, First Good Conduct Award. After his service, he continued his studies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, and worked as an Electronics Engineer and Facilities Manager for various companies while raising his three children.
Surviving is his sister, Christine S (Arthur) Rentzsch (Quinlan & Zoey); three children, Taylor A Schultz, Ethan M (Madeline) Schultz, and Hannah M Schultz; and two granddaughters, Adley and Maeve Schultz.
There will be a gathering of family and friends 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 Howard St., South Williamsport, where the memorial service will begin at 11 a.m.
The family will provide the flowers, and suggests memorial contributions in Matthew's memory be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org, or the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
