Gabriel D. Wise

Gabriel D. Wise, born March 14, 1993, died in a motorcycle accident on June 30, 2023 in Lancaster.

Gabriel was a man of few words unless you got him talking about Soccer or Coffee. He spent his formative years in Tonawanda and Lewisburg, and some of his later years in Columbus, Ohio, Williamsport and Lancaster. Gabriel spent many summers at Camp Susque as a child and teenager, and he continued to serve and volunter there ever since. He also volunteered his time at Thrive International, an organization dedicated toward the inclusion and assistance of underprivileged immigrants that have moved to North Central Pennsylvania.

While in Columbus, Ohio, Gabriel had the opportunity to serve on a mission in India. While there, he made many connections and created lifelong bonds. Upon his return to the Williamsport area, he began working at both Liberty Mountain and as a barista at Alabaster Coffee Roaster & Tea Co. His time at Alabaster sparked his passion for craft coffee. He quickly worked his way up to the Head Roaster there. Gabriel crafted many profiles of coffee that are still enjoyed to this day.

Gabriel moved to Lancaster in 2020, to continue his career in craft coffee at Swift Cup. During his time at Swift Cup, Gabriel was instrumental in their nationwide expansion and success. His fascination and talent for his craft was known to his friends and peers. In his spare time, Gabriel loved to go on bike rides, explore the PA wilderness, travel to unknown areas, read, play disc golf and cheer for his favorite soccer team, the Columbus Crew. Even after leaving Williamsport, Gabriel was passionate about the organizations he dedicated his time to.

Gabriel leaves behind his loving partner, and a dedicated group of friends and family, all of whom will miss him every day. The loved one who will miss him the most is his dog, Bandit. Gabriel and Bandit enjoyed a special bond and many adventures together.

There will be an Open House celebration of life at New Trail Brewing Co. on Aug. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to Camp Susque and/or Thrive International.
