Leslie D. Budinger, OD, 68, of Cape May, N.J., passed away on July 19, 2023 after a seven-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Les was born in Jersey Shore on Sept. 8, 1954. He was the son of the late Garth A. Budinger and Meredith (Langham) Budinger.
He graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1972, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lycoming College in 1976. Les graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Optometry in 1980.
Les owned Colonial Optometric Associates, PC in Downingtown until his retirement in 2017. He was honored in 1997 for his years of service providing eye exams and developmental vision assessments for children in the Head Start program.
Les was a devoted family man and his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
His love of the outdoors was shared with his family, by coaching his sons' soccer teams, family fishing, camping trips and bike riding.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Ward) Budinger; four sons, Matthew (Meghan), Daniel (Julie), Christopher (Jenna) and Ryan; his mother, Meredith; his brothers, Alan E. and Garth E.; his sister, Barbara (Jeffrey) Yost; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held on Aug. 27, 2023 at Kennett Square Country Club, Kennett Square.
