Michael G. "Mike" Eck, 72, of Montoursville, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 13, 1951, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Clinton and Geraldine (Winder) Eck.
Mike was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved traveling, and the travels were even better if they included a Corvette ride from one destination to the next. He was also a bit of a handyman, always tinkering around in his garage. He even remodeled his log cabin in the woods, transforming it into a cozy retreat along the Loyalsock Creek. Mike was a man of many talents, but his greatest achievement was his family.
Married for 44 years to Kathleen (Kowalchik) Eck, their love story was one for the ages, filled with shared dreams and mutual respect. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters, Tracy (Mike) Clemens, Tara (Rob) Kieser, and Sarah (Alan Jr.) Oliver. Mike was a proud father who took immense pleasure in his daughters' accomplishments. One of Mike's purest joys was being a Pap to his seven grandchildren, Allison, Mackenzie, Cameron, Ciara, Jonathan, Alaina, and Mason. He loved them dearly and enjoyed spending time with them, sharing stories, and imparting wisdom. In addition, Mike held deep connections with his siblings, Steve Eck, William "Bill" Eck, Clinton "Bob" Eck, Linda Losell, Nancy Vollman, Mary McLaughlin, and Annette Smith as well as their families. Their bond was unbreakable, providing Mike with a sense of love.
A celebration of life to honor Mike will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Pastor Jerry Uppling presiding. Prior to the service, a public viewing will take place from 10 to 11 a.m., allowing friends and acquaintances the opportunity to pay their respects. Following the funeral service, Mike will be laid to rest in Montoursville Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to either the American Heart Association at www.Heart.org; the American Lung Association at www.lung.org; or simply do an act of kindness in Mike's memory.
