Doris R. Guinter, age 87, passed away at The Gatehouse on Nov. 21, 2023, after receiving injuries from a fall while doing what she loved – decorating for Christmas.
Born Jan. 29, 1936, the daughter of Ellis "Pete" and Marian (Spring) Hall. She graduated from Montoursville High School. Her sister, Bernice Holt, and sister-in-law, Donna Hall survive her.
Doris married Harold L. Guinter on Aug. 9, 1957. Together they raised three children who all survive her. Daughters, Cindy Shaffer of Fairfield Township, and Crystal Follmer of Montoursville; and a son, Craig (Paula) Guinter of the Hughesville area. The family grew during their 61 years of marriage when it added six grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Doris was known for her beautiful flower gardens. Her talents also included making wooden furniture, crafts and home and holiday decor. There was nothing she couldn't make after seeing just a picture from one of her many Country style magazines. Her greatest joy though was her family. Holidays created special memories as they all gathered together.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Ernest "Pete" Hall; sisters, Mary Baseshore, and Anna Mae Rolley; brother-in-law, Vincent Rolley; her sons-in-law, Lester M. Shaffer Jr. and Steven Follmer; along with her grandson, Jesse D. Follmer.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at the Montoursville Cemetery with Pastor Martin Coffey officiating.
