Clair A. Springman, 88, of Montoursville, passed away Dec. 26, 2023, at home with loved ones by his side.
Born on Nov. 12, 1935, in Montoursville, a son of the late Ira G. and Mabel E. (Minier) Springman.
Clair graduated from Montoursville High School in 1953. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country honorably during the Korean War. Clair was a member of the first Little League Team in Montoursville. For two years he raced in the Soap Box Derby and was awarded best designed soap box racer.
On Aug. 15, 1964, Clair married the former Marie E. Losch with whom he celebrated 59 years of a wonderful marriage. Clair was a member of Montoursville Presbyterian Church and was a 50-year lifetime member of Salt Run Hunting Club.
Clair loved building things in his workshop and spending time at his lake lot at Seneca Lake, Ny. He enjoyed lake trout fishing, sailing with his wife, making his own fishing lures, and visiting with his family.
Clair was a Job Superintendent who worked for Lundy Construction Company from 1959 until 1977. In 1982 Clair was elected Business Representative of local 691 of the Keystone District Council of Carpenters. He taught apprenticeship training before retiring in 1991. Clair was granted Life Membership in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
Clair is survived by his wife, Marie Springman, of Montoursville; daughter, Jill (Curt) Moore, of Fairfax, Va.; sister, Gloria Alexander, of Montoursville; grandsons, Bradley Moore of Charlottesville, Va. and Wesley Moore of Fairfax, Va.
In addition to his parents, Clair was predeceased by a sister Sylvia Anthony.
In keeping with Clair's wishes, there will be no services. A private burial will be held at Montoursville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Clair's honor to Habitat for Humanity or Montoursville Presbyterian Church.
The family is so grateful for the love and care provided by caregiver Deb Potter and by the UPMC Family Hospice Home Health Care.
