Craig A. Harting, 66, of Muncy Valley, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at UPMC Muncy, after bravely fighting cancer twice.
Born Oct. 29, 1957, in Ephrata, he was a son of Margaret (Demming) Harting, and the late William Harting. He and his wife, the former Dawn E. Thompson, celebrated 20 years of marriage on July 10, 2023.
A graduate of Cocalico High School, Class of 1975, Craig received a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Mansfield University. He furthered his education at Bucknell University where he received his Master's degree.
Craig served as Manager, Engineering Services, for Tri-County Rural Electric, Mansfield, from 1980 to 1989, and retired as CEO from Sullivan County Rural Electric in 2022, after having worked there for over 32 years.
Craig was an active member of Valley United Methodist Church, Muncy Valley, where he served as Trustee and Administrative Board Chairman. He served as Treasurer for the Eagles Mere-Laporte Lions Club and Eagles Mere-Laporte Lions Foundation, which he was especially proud of. In his free time, Craig enjoyed the outdoors, including mowing, working on equipment, landscaping, bicycling, and tinkering. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
A self-described occasional nerd, Craig believed in giving back to his community, and helping people however he could. He was a quiet leader and kind person who loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
